The Late Summer Meltdown starts at Pen Park and follows parts of the Rivanna Trail on single-track and double-track trails.The out-and-back course has some rolling hills and flat grassy sections, and is not very technical. Total elevation gain is 416 ft.
The race is open to all interested racers, runners, and walkers.
The Late Summer Meltdown is the fourth and last race of the Charlottesville Summer Trail Running Series. You can register for this race only or for the entire series. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers and points will be awarded to Charlottesville Trail Running Series runners, cumulative time scoring, based on their place at the finish.
When: Tuesday, August 13th, 2019, at 7 pm.

Pen Park is located at the northeast corner in the city of Charlottesville, off East Rio Road at Pen Park Road. There are several parking lots for the different sections of the park.
From the Downtown Mall: From the northeast end of the Mall, take Park Street north onto East Rio Road and turn right onto Pen Park Road and follow it through the gate.
From Route 250 and Route 29: Take Route 250 east to the exit ramp to Park Street, turn left and follow Park Street onto East Rio Road and turn right onto Pen Park Road and follow it through the gate.
Once you are inside the park:
To reach the picnic shelter #2 and the race start, turn left before the tennis courts and proceed to the parking area. There will be three picnic shelters on your left, the middle one is reserved for the race.
Ample parking next to the picnic shelters. Please do not park on the grass off the side of the road, there are no parking signs.
