O'H!lly Trail 5K
The OH!lly Trail 5K takes place completely on single-track trails with challenging and fun ups and downs. The total elevation change is 684 ft.
Boars Head Turn & Burn
Explore the sweet trails at the Boar’s Head Resort, and the amazing start/finish area by the lake. The course has a total distance of 5 miles and a total elevation gain (and loss) of 745 ft.
The race is open to all interested racers, runners, and walkers. Subject to race caps.
The Turn & Burn is the third race of the Charlottesville Summer Trail Running Series
JARMANS INVITATIONAL MARATHON
The course sucks. The race starts at the intersection of Jarman's Gap Rd and Greenwood Rd in Crozet, Virginia. From there, runners will run up Jarmans - 2.9 miles and 1,522 ft of elevation gain, then turn around and come right back down 2.9 miles and 1,522 ft. Runners will repeat this lap five times for a total of 7,610ft elevation gain and loss over 29.0 miles. Jarmans is a steep gravel road, with some areas shaded and some areas in full sun. There are minimal scenic views. The summit of Jarmans is simply a muddy parking spot and an 'End State Maintenance' sign. You will run by a junkyard and several pit bulls or other loose dogs. The train crosses Jarmans and may or may not be running during the race. The course is gonna suck.
Late Summer Meltdown 4-miler
The Late Summer Meltdown starts at Pen Park and follows parts of the Rivanna Trail on single-track and double-track trails. The out-and-back course has some rolling hills and flat grassy sections and is not very technical. The total elevation gain is 416 ft. The race is open to all interested racers, runners, and walkers. The Late Summer Meltdown is the fourth and last race of the Charlottesville Summer Trail Running Series.

This route will prepare you for the long climbs, technical single track and fast descents of Promise Land, Grayson Highlands, Hellbender and Massanutten, all races where many CATs will be running in the next month.
The route is basically three long climbs on three different trails, with one common descent trail. Bring something yummy to share in the parking lot after the run, and I will be available to answer any last minute questions about race day prep.

50K Training Run
This weeks training will be out at Dick Woods Road! We will meet at 7:00 AM. Park at the corner of Miller School Rd and Dick Woods Rd in Crozet. The run is just an out and back.
For those following the training program, we are still building up and the program calls for 18 miles. We'll hit 18 miles by turning around at the Afton post office / mailbox.
Those looking for less mileage, the run is an out and back, so you can turn around when you are *precisely half-way tired*.
Want more miles? Go see the Blue Ridge Tunnel and a light at the end of the tunnel! That option is mere 22 miles. The flat and downhill miles are fast, and the uphill ain't steep, so it's easy-peasy...
